The new Renault Mégane R.S. was voted best in class by the jury for the Performance Hatchback category. Seeing off fierce competition, it was recognised for its powerful performance and striking good looks.

The Renault Mégane R.S. brings all Renault Sport’s experience of motorsports technologies to a production sports car. The onboard equipment is best-in-class and offers a set of new driving aids to cope with any road under any conditions.

The Mégane R.S. comes with a new version of the 1.8-litre direct injection turbo engine. With a power output of 280hp (205 kW) at 6,000rpm, it delivers a peak torque of 390Nm available from 2,400 to 4,800rpm – one of the best torque ratings in its category.

This powerful new engine delivers increased driving pleasure and comfort to every driver.

Continuing the success for Renault, the all-new Renault Duster won the prestigious MECOTY Public Award, voted on by the public across all nominated cars and categories.
The Duster was recognised for its distinctive styling and off-road abilities. It won more than 20% of the 80,000+ votes received from around the world.

Renault’s Zoe Z.E. 40 “charged” to first place in the Electric Vehicles jury award. This 100 per cent electric vehicle showcases Renault’s commitment to eco-friendly designs for drivers with an environmental conscience.

Now in its 6th edition, MECOTY is the largest and most coveted award for the region’s automotive industry.

The sophisticated but transparent nomination and scoring process is overseen by some of the most experienced names in the motor industry.

There is one Jury Award in each category and one unique Public Award covering all the nominated cars and categories to enable any car enthusiast to have a say on the overall Car of the Year.

Nominees undergo a stringent multi-stage voting process, with the panel of judges representing UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan & Saudi Arabia.
