Winners of the 2013 French Junior Rally Championship, Axel Garcia and Fabien Pomares will now compete in a Renault Twingo R.S. R2 Evo prepared by Renault Sport Technologies. Like Nicolas Romiguière / Alexis Nègre and Jérémie Sérieys / Justine Quillet before Garcia and Pomares will benefit from an eight-round programme destined to allow them to continue their rally racing apprenticeship.

To accompany them towards the highest level of the sport, Renault Sport Technologies chose a mixed schedule on two surfaces. Axel Garcia will race in six rounds of the French Rally Championship, on asphalt and will complement his programme with two rounds in the French Gravel Rally Championship.

Axel Garcia and Fabien Pomares will begin their season on the Le Touquet Rally, on March 14 and 15. They will get their first taste of the Twingo R.S. R2 Evo at a test session organized by Renault Sport Technologies at the ” Pôle Mécanique d’Alès ” and in the Aveyron region on February 18 and 19.

“This session will let us familiarize ourselves with the car,” says Axel Garcia. “I am excited to discover this car and perceive its full potential. I have a lot to learn, the power, the sequential gearbox and set-ups. Our goal will be to put in the miles in order to feel comfortable in the Twingo.”
