The first titles at Cardabelles?

The Clio Trophy France Terre enters the home stretch this weekend at Rallye Terre des Cardabelles. Based in Millau, the penultimate round of the calendar will feature 24 crews battling in their Renault Clio Rally5s. The first champions could be crowned in this round, famous for its perils.

The venue for every Clio Trophy France Terre final since its inception in 2021, the ‘Cardas’ will this time host the category for its fourth round before the season finale at Rallye Terre de Vaucluse (7-9 November). However, the special stages around Millau could crown several contenders as early as Sunday!

Mika Rasoamaromaka, who remains undefeated in 2025, has a fourth consecutive victory in his sights to take a big step towards the title. While there are many possible scenarios with 55 points available at the finish and up to five points on each timed sector, the Madagascan could take an irreversible lead, even with the worst score dropped to establish the final general classification. Second on these roads in 2023, the Fun Meca Sport driver is also determined to position Jérémy Brissiaud’s team closer to another Clio Trophy France Terre title.

His rivals will nevertheless do everything they can to keep the suspense alive. Florian Bouchonneau, who already has three podium finishes to his credit this season, will target his maiden victory on the stages where he clinched the title in 2022. He will also be keen to keep AMD Motorsport by Gulf Racing & Racelogic in contention in the team classification. Fourth at Les Causses, third at Aléria and second in Lozère, Anaël Cayla aims to continue his rise to the top step of the podium in his first season with Clio Rally5. Still in contention for the Junior title, with an official programme in 2025 up for grabs, Thomas Eustaquio and Jean Lavigne – who finished second last year – have nothing to lose and will give it their all.

Among the other Juniors, Anthony Rovina and Alexandre Villiod will look to confirm their potential, as will Lény Cols, winner of last year’s Clio Trophy Belgium. Charles Charrier, Joris Grès and Thomas Mouysset are also keen to put in a strong performance to move up the leaderboard. The more experienced Alexandre Gransagne is aiming to return to the podium. Nicolas Hebrard has another top ten finish in mind after the one he secured in Lozère, whilst Ludovic Casciani, Gaël Bertrand and Romain Sagnes will aim for a position more in line with their ambitions.

A race within the race will feature several contenders for the Clio Full Challenge, designed to reward versatility on different surfaces. Third on these roads last year, Christophe Truchet intends to extend his lead, but Johan Grès, Alexandre Brossy and Laurent Zambon aspire to score big points ahead of the 1.5 coefficient season finale in Vaucluse (Gravel) and Var (Tarmac).

With the Gentleman title already secured, Ludovic De Luca will chase a third win this season, while hoping he can secure the Renault Network Challenge for Agence De Luca with Florian Bouchonneau and Christophe Truchet. Lastly, the service park will welcome three new protagonists: Jérôme Ayrinhac, who has ten starts in the event, Simon Baumet, a Clio Rally5 newcomer, and Loïc Sanchez, who made a string impression in his competition debut this summer at Rallye Terre de Découverte.

Famous for its terrain that leaves little room for error, Rallye Terre des Cardabelles features ten special stages totalling 135.92 timed kilometres on a 490.9 km route, including recce. L’Hospitalet, Le Camp, and Sainte-Eulalie will be run twice on Saturday, before the competitors take on Sévérac d’Aveyron and Altès twice on Sunday. Nine crews will also be present to extend Clio Rally3’s winning streak in the GT2i CFRT FFSA Trophy in the Gravel French Rally Championship.
