The Clio Trophy Belgium for 2021!
Building on the success of New Clio Rally in open competition and single-make cups, Renault Sport Racing is stepping up the development of its latest creation with a new dedicated trophy within the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship with a 2022 factory programme at stake.
Ever since its victorious debut in the WRC Rally Guanajuato Mexico, New Clio Rally has positioned itself as the benchmark in the Rally5 category thanks to its chassis based on Clio R.S. Line and its 4-cylinder 1330cc TCe 16-valve engine, making it a high-performance, reliable and economical car.
After a first season that saw nearly 50 crews battle in the Clio Trophy France alongside the Italian and Iberian trophies - where the model designed by the Viry-Châtillon teams and assembled in the Dieppe workshops won the two-wheel drive title in Spain - New Clio Rally’s expansion will continue with the forthcoming launch of the Clio Trophy Belgium in 2021.
Organised within the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship with the support of Renault Belgium Luxembourg and Renault Sport Racing customer-competition partners Castrol and Michelin, the Clio Trophy Belgium will rely on the same assets that have worked so successfully in the Renault initiated cups.
The Clio Trophy Belgium will offer an attractive five-round calendar in one of the finest and most competitive tarmac championships in Europe as well as a generous bonus and prize system, spread over several categories.
True to its dedication to detecting and promoting motorsport hopefuls, Renault Sport Racing will also offer the best Junior in the trophy a factory programme with Renault Clio Rally4, currently under development, during the 2022 season.
The promotion of the Clio Trophy Belgium will be entrusted to MY Racing, the official distribution partner of Renault Sport Racing in Belgium and Luxembourg through its MY Racing Parts division. As a prominent actor in rally competition since 2008, MY Racing will put its experience in the organisation of single-make cups to good use to ensure the success of the new trophy while guaranteeing fairness between all the competitors.
More details about the calendar, the sporting format as well as the distribution of the Clio Trophy Belgium bonus and prize system will be announced soon.
Benoit Nogier, Renault Sport Racing Commercial Director: "New Clio Rally has become the must-have car in the Rally5 category and seduces more and more organisers, promoters and competitors around the world. We are delighted to relaunch a dedicated trophy in Belgium, a country with unique links to Renault and motorsport, as early as next year. With our experience in feeder series and the expertise of MY Racing, we are convinced that the Clio Trophy Belgium will establish itself as a must-do step on the Belgian rally scene, both for ambitious young hopefuls and for drivers willing to give their careers a new breath or others looking for thrills behind the wheel of a high-performance, reliable and affordable car!"
