Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4, and Clio Rally5 confirmed their dominance on the national and continental scenes with several successes over a weekend in which more than 150 crews put their trust in Renault!
Clio Trophy France Asphalte & French Gravel Rally Championship
Winners at Rouergue in early summer, Julien Deslauriers Sablonnière and Amandine Brunel repeated their success at Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine. The Autocantal Compétition crew ran a consistent and focused rally to avoid the pitfalls, to take the spoils and move to the top of the Clio Trophy France Asphalte table. Tom and Frédéric Vauclare won the Junior category, finishing runners-up ahead of Romain Fostier and Ophélie Abchiche. Pascal and Caroline Bérard (Gentlemen), as well as Charlotte Olea and Cécile Pages (Women), also won their respective categories.
On the same roads, Guillaume Tardy and Caroline Puel led Clio Rally3 sweep of the top five in its class. Quentin Ribaud and Loan Biagetti gave Clio Rally4 another victory in the Michelin Amateur Trophy. Former Clio Trophy France standouts Matteo Chatillon and Maxence Cornuau also created a buzz in the Alpine A290 Rallye on its debut appearance in demonstration runs on French special stages ahead of its competition debut at Rallye de l’Indre (November 8-9).
Clio Trophy Portugal
João Rodrigues and Bruno Carvalho made it two victories from two starts in season two of Clio Trophy Portugal. As in the opening round of the calendar, the driver from Mafra won almost every special stage of Rallye Constálica Viseu Dão Lafões to secure the win by nearly one minute over Tiago Pereira and Fernando Pereira. Luís Caetano and David Monteiro completed the podium. Rali da Água Transiberico Eurocidade Chaves Verin will host round three of the campaign on 19-20 September.
European Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 claimed its sixth consecutive podium finish in ERC3 at the JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion. Hubert Kowalczyk and Jarosław Hryniuk immediately found their pace on the Welsh roads and were among the frontrunners before suffering a setback at the end of the first leg. Back in action the next day, the Polish duo climbed back up to second place and will challenge the championship leaders for the title at the Croatia Rally (October 3-5).
Middle East Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 enjoyed another success on the continental scene, this time with Joseph Hindy and Vicken Kanledjian at the Rally of Lebanon. On home turf, the duo won the RC3 and MERC3 categories to take the points lead ahead of the final round of the season. Their countrymen Tony Germanos and Joseph Kmeid were also victorious in MERC4 and RC5 in their Clio Rally5.
Belgian Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 continued its perfect campaign on the Belgian national scene with a fifth victory from five rallies. Benoit Verlinde and Bert Feys led a lockout of the top four in RC3 at the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen. Meanwhile, Clio Rally5 scored a double victory in RC5 and the BRC Trophy, with Lény Cols and Pascal Lopes securing the title ahead of the final two rounds of the season. The duo also finished on the Junior category podium, where they remain in first place.
Lithuanian Rally Championship
Clio Rally4 scored a podium result at the penultimate round of the season at Rally Elektrėnai. Competing for the first time with this model, Aras Kvedaras and Karolis Gedgaudas needed just three special stages to set their first fastest time before finishing second in the Junior, LARČ4 and Rally4 Trophy categories.
Norwegian Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 finished on the podium in its class on its first appearance in Norway. Driven by Finns Mika Karppanen and Aino Riipinen at Rally Larvik, the model took second place in N3 while also securing a top-five finish in NRC1 on the asphalt roads of round five of the Norwegian calendar.
Romanian Rally Championship
Round six of the season, the Raliul Iașului, produced further success for Clio Rally5, with David Marcu and Rareș Badea winning the RO5 and Newcomers categories, as well as finishing runners-up in the Junior category. The duo also won the Clio Rally5 Challenge on the gravel stages, with Samuil Mircea and George Marinescu still leading ahead of the last three rounds of the season.
Mitropa Rally Cup
Second overall in their Clio Rally3 at Rally Kumrovec, Hermann and Ursula Gaßner won round seven of the Mitropa Rally Cup to extend their lead in the general classification. Victorious in CEZ2, Mitja Glasenčnik and Matej Pistotnik made it a 1-2 in class for the model. Clio Rally5 also starred with a podium finish in the Alpe Adria Cup for Dario Merlić and Danijel Radovanić, who also finished runners-up in the Junior category of the Croatian Championship.
French Rally Cup
Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 all starred at Rallye des Côtes de Lumière with victories for Antoine Bordagaray - Alan Autegarden, who finished second overall, Thierry Landais - Kelly Ruchaud, and Thomas Bordagaray - Brice Ricou. The Rallye des Hautes-Côtes also saw a triple success with Thierry Cassard - Mathéo Terret, Vincent Forès - Pascale Augier, and Jérôme Potard - Jonathan Sponem.
Clio Rally3 secured another overall podium result with Arnaud Gautier and Édouard Dubos finishing third at Rallye du Bocage, where Margot Pottier and Anthony Langlois won their class with Clio Rally5. Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 set the pace at Rallye du Picodon with Nathanaël Zappacosta - Marie Bres and Julien Charnay - Maxime Gomez. Meanwhile, Pierre-Marie Lacroix and David Labatut drove their Clio Rally5 to victory at Rallye du Cantal, as did Christophe Tramaloni and Ludovic Cassar at Rallye de la Vésubie.
And elsewhere…
In Italy, Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 all won at Rally Val d’Aveto with the crews of Gianluca Caserza − Giulia Patrone, Matteo Solis − Serena Terrile and Davide Cugini − Giancarla Guzzi. Their countrymen Filippo Nannetti - Alessia Tasi and Maicol Noti- Sandro Sanesi did the same with the Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 at Rally di Casciana Terme.
Clio Rally3 was also on fine form with Miikka Vuokila and Harri Kervinen, who finished fourth in the LapWall Nivala Ralli (Finland). Lastly, Jiří Hladík and Veronika Teplá led an all-Clio Rally5 podium in its category at Rally Vyškov. The crew is now just a whisker away from clinching the RC5 title in the Czech Rallysprint Championship.
