Podium finish in FIA ERC, the curtain-raiser for Clio Trophy Portugal, a new winner in Clio Trophy Canarias, and numerous successes as far afield as Lebanon. It was another trophy-filled weekend for the fifth-generation Renault Clio in rallying!

FIA European Rally Championship & Polish Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 scored another podium finish at Rally Poland, round four of the FIA ERC calendar. With four stage wins, Finland’s Ville Vatanen and Jarno Ottman took second place in ERC3, just 17.1s behind the winners, putting them back in the title race at the halfway point of the season. Meanwhile, Clio Rally5 dominated the RC5 class with Romanians Artur Luca and Vlad Colceriu.

The event also hosted round three of the Polish Championship. Hubert Kowalczyk and Jarosław Hryniuk finished fifth in ERC3 and eighth overall in their Clio Rally3. Meanwhile, their countrymen Sergiusz Janowski and Krzysztof Grzenia won the two-wheel drive class in their Clio Rally4 and now lead in the general classification in their class.

Clio Trophy Portugal

The second edition of the Clio Trophy Portugal kicked off last weekend at Rali de Castelo Branco e Vila Velha de Ródão. In the all-Clio Rally5 field, João Rodrigues and Bruno Carvalho were quickest on 11 of the 12 special stages to win ahead of Luis Caetano and David Monteiro. Trophy newcomers Paulo Santos and Gonçalo Palmeira completed the podium. The Constálica Rally Vouzela e Viseu will host round two on 6-7 September.

Clio Trophy Canarias

The Rallye Villa de Granadilla hosted round two of the Clio Trophy Canarias. Leading from the first special stage, Kevin Kipar and Raúl Sánchez never looked back to claim their first victory in the trophy ahead of Walter Delgado and Miguel Reverón. Victorious in the season opener, Jesús Pérez and Aythami Díaz completed a podium with less than sixteen seconds covering the top three. On the strength of his success, Kevin Kipar takes the lead in the general classification going into the next round at Rally Ciudad de La Laguna (25-26 July).

French Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 enjoyed further success in France at Rallye Vosges Grand Est. Jérôme Jacquot and Marielle Grandemange avoided the pitfalls of the course and constantly changing weather conditions to win in Rally3. Clio Rally5 also won its class with Jérôme Janny and Helena Pecheur and finished runner-up in the Women’s category with Emma Chalvin and Charlyne Quartini, who now join the race for the title.

Lebanese Rally Championship

Joseph Hindy and Vicken Kanledjian got off to a winning start with Clio Rally3 at the Jezzine Rally. The duo gradually gained momentum to mix it up with the Rally2 cars on the event’s seven special stages. The Lebanese pair scored a grand slam in RC3, finishing just shy of the overall podium. On the same asphalt roads, Clio Rally5 scored a second consecutive victory in RC5 with Tony Germanos and Joseph Kmeid.

French Rally Cup

Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 all triumphed on the Corsican roads of the Rallye d’Eccica Suaredda with Thomas Pittilloni - Alexis Gomes, Jean-Pierre Flori - Dann Garcia, and Anthony Dominici - Philippa Dominici. Meanwhile, Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 finished second and sixth overall at Rallye Nice Jean Behra with Jean-Baptiste Daune and Clément Gorda, and Emeric Pollet and Sylvia Pollet. The two models also won their classes at Rallye du Gard with Gaël Tribouillois - Laëtitia Arnaud, and Sylvain Rouquette - Marjorie Mercier. Lastly, Clio Rally5 set the pace at Rallye Haute Vallée de la Loire with Silvio Cammarota and Eva Dolmazon.

And elsewhere…

The Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 scored further successes on several fronts. In Germany, Klaus Osterhaus and Natalie Solbach-Schmidt finished second overall and first in RC3 at the ADAC RSC / rthb Rallyesprint in their Clio Rally3, where Daniel and Sandra Wittner finished fourth overall and won in RC5 with their Clio Rally5.

There was more success in Italy. Gianluca Caserza - Giulia Patrone (Rally3) and Matteo Solis - Serena Terrile (Rally5) won at Rally della Lanterna, as did William Marti - Andrea Marco Cecchi (Rally3), Leonardo Della Nina - Nicola Ricci (Rally5) and Noemi Artino - Giancarla Guzzi (Women) at Rally di Reggello. It was the same story in Belgium, with Timothy Van Parijs − Eddy Snaet (RC3) and Mathias Ver Eecke − Bart Vromman (RC5) at Rally van Wervik.

Lastly, Clio Rally5 made a strong impression at the Zagreb Delta Rally (Croatia) with a double-class victory for Marko Fakin and Aleksandar Radovčić, and other wins at Rally Costa del Gargano (Italy) with Emanuele Bruscino and Giuseppe Piccirilli, and at the ADMV Osterburgrallye Weida (Germany) with Matteo Müller and Josephine Finger.
