Customer Racing Activities – 2025/#13
With 176 Renault Clios in action on the rally special stages and racetracks, the fifth generation has once more enjoyed a highly successful weekend in several countries!
French Gravel Rally Championship
Rallye Terre des Causses marked Tom Pellerey’s maiden outing in the official Clio Rally3 after his Junior title in Clio Trophy France Terre last year. Co-driven by Hervé Faucher, the Vaucluse native made the most of the weekend to take stock of his Fun Meca Sport-serviced car. With seven best times from ten special stages, the crew led a Clio Rally3 sweep of the top eight places in RC3 and also won the inaugural round of the GT2i CFRT FFSA Trophy before their world championship debut at the Rally of Portugal (15-18 May).
Tom Pellerey: "It’s truly wonderful to start the Clio Rally3 adventure with a victory. I had to adapt to a new car that I was learning about. I hoped to be as competitive as possible, but it was hard to predict a result without experience behind the wheel. I was told it would be easy to handle, devilishly efficient and very sound. That was indeed my conclusion at the weekend’s end. As a four-wheel drive novice like me, I can confirm that it is a comfortable and serene car. I want to thank everyone involved and Fun Meca Sport for the work that led to this result!"
At the same time, Mika Rasoamaromaka and Mélissa Declerck led the first meeting of the 2025 Clio Trophy France season from start to finish. Also victorious in the two-wheel drive category, the Madagascan driver finished ahead of the 2022 title-winning duo, Florian Bouchonneau and Jeanne Rey. Bastien Bergounhe and Mathieu Descharne completed the first podium of the year.

FIA European Rally Championship
Of the four Clio Rally3 crews competing in the Rally Sierra Morena, Hubert Kowalczyk and Jarosław Hryniuk were the fastest. The Poles were in the thick of the fight for victory in ERC3 before settling for sixth place following a puncture in the penultimate special stage. Clio Rally5 was more successful, with the Romanian duo of Ciprian Lupu and Vlad Colceriu winning RC5 in an event also hosting round two of the S-CER (Supercampeonato de España de Rallyes).
Dutch Rally Championship
The three versions of the Clio Rally came up big at the first meeting of the Zuiderzee Rally. Clio Rally3 started this new season in the Dutch Rally Championship with a lockout of the RC3 podium, with Ceriel Klein Kromhof and Marcel Hanstede scoring the win. Clio Rally4 also dominated the proceedings in its class with Maurice Kuijstermans and Daan Tijink, as did Clio Rally5 with the first eight places led by Max van Empel and Eddy Smeets.
Greek Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 made a fine start to the season on the Greek national scene with second place overall for Ioannis Badounas and Elias Panagiotounis on the Olympiako Rally. Only beaten by a Rally2 entry, the crew combined performance and consistency throughout the course to win C2 and Rally3. Cypriots Michalis Posedias and Pambos Laos made it a 1-2 in Rally3 for the model.
Lebanese Rally Championship
Clio Rally5 stands the test of time! Already victorious last year at the start of the Lebanese Rally Championship, it triumphed again in RC5, this time with Tony Germanos and Joseph Kmeid. The crew set the best time on all six special stages of the Spring Rally to win by more than eight minutes.
Swiss Rally Championship
Success was also in store at the Critérium Jurassien. Clio Rally3 won at the Swiss Rally Championship opener with David Boissenin and Romain Depeux. Four Clio Rally5s were also in action, and Frenchmen Nicolas Lods and Alex Richard proved the most skillful to secure an all-Clio Rally5 RC5 podium.
German Rally Cup
Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 excelled at the ADAC KW-Ostalbrallye. Clio Rally4 finished just off the overall podium while winning RC4 with Max Schumann and Ann Felke. Tim Wacker and Luca Kiefer won in RC5 in their Clio Rally5 while finishing seventh overall to take the lead in the DMSB Rally Cup, DMSB-Rallye-Cup Pirelli and Renault Sindermann Cup!
French Rally Cup
Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 all secured class wins at the Rallye Pays de Grasse, with Jean-Baptiste Daune and Marc Bernardi, Florian Picchioni and René Belleville, and Jean-Jacques Ferrier and Yann Ferrier respectively.
Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 also set the pace at the Rallye de l’Anguison with Fabrice Martin - Marlène Thiriot and Axel Delaporte - Clémence Marechal, at the Rallye de Neufchâtel-en-Bray with Arnaud Gautier - Édouard Dubos and Paul Dachicourt - Adèle Dachicourt, in the Rallye Ville de Vervins with Christophe Lanssens − Audrey Lanssens and Andrea Pelini − Jean-Louis Hottelet as well as in the Rallye de Faverges with Maxime Rizzo - Méryl Giraldo and Kévin Duc − Yann Duc.
Still in France, Clio Rally5 dominated its class at the Rallye Mouzon-Frézelle with Jean-Claude Pietri and Jean-François Muselli and at the Rallye du Pays de Lohéac with Antoine Bordagaray and Alan Autegarden. Clio Rally4 won the regional support event of the latter with Thierry Landais and Morgan Lefebvre. Lastly, Dorian and Laura Trenoult led Clio Rally5 to class victory in the Reunion Island’s Rallye Petite-Île - Sud Sauvage.
Clio Rally6 also made its first competitive appearance at the Rallye du Pays de Lohéac. Focused on validating the kit concept in racing conditions, Baptiste Panissié and Théo Pallu gradually upped the pace to climb into the top five in FR6 before the cancellation of the final special stage.
Clio Cup GB
The Clio Cup Great Britain began its second season at Silverstone. Clio newcomer Sam Gornall (Westbourne Motorsport) made a big impression from his debut, taking pole position before winning both races ahead of defending champion Nick Taylor (Graves Motorsport). Ainsley Bird (Graves Motorsport) and Ben Jenkins (LDR Performance Tuning) completed the two podiums. The next meeting takes place at Brands Hatch on 18 May.
And elsewhere
Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 were both victorious at the Trofeo Maremma (Italy), with Mirco Straffi – Jary Cavaciocchi and Leonardo Della Nina – Nicola Ricci in Rally5. Clio Rally4 was not to be outdone with a victory in S2 and an overall top five for Filip Ocelka and Tomáš Plachý at the Slovácká Rally (Czech Republic). Clio Rally5 also won with Sebastian Dallapiccola and Fabio Andrian at the Rally della Marca (Italy), Luca De Marco and Giuseppe Piccirilli at the Rally Città di Casarano (Italy), Michele Cortese and Marco Luigi Zaccone at the Rally Valle del Sosio (Italy) and Tiago and Fernando Pereira at the Rallye Terras de Auren (Portugal).
