Customer Racing Activities – 2023/#16
On the track and in the stages, Renault Clio won spectacularly on all fronts and at all levels this weekend before the resumption of the French Junior Rallycross Championship at Lessay!
Clio Cup Series
Fifty-one drivers were in action at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for round two of the Clio Cup Series and the debut of Clio Cup Europe, Italia and Mid-Europe. At the "Temple of Speed", Italian Gabriele Torelli (Rangoni Corse) secured the two pole positions and two victories on home soil. Meanwhile, Mattia Lancellotti (Faro Racing) and Julien Baziret (Baziret Sport) shared the honours in the Challengers Cup, as did Luca Franca (MC Motortecnica) and Marc Fleurance (T2CM) in the Racers Cup in what was a hectic weekend on the track.

FIA World Rally Championship
Clio Rally5 scored its 15th World Rally Championship victory at Rally Croatia with the success of Igor Mandić - Albert Ivančić, who led from start to finish in RC5. Their compatriots Vjekoslav Čičko - Eugen Kokolić and Slaven Šekuljica - Damir Petrović made it an all-Clio Rally5 and Croatian podium in Zagreb. At the same time, Tomas Hrvatin and Djani Simčić, with their Clio Rally4, finished third in the two-wheel drive category.
French Rally Championship
Tom Pieri scored his maiden victory as an official Clio Rally4 driver in the French Rally Championship on the Rhône Charbonnières Rally. The 2022 Clio Trophy France Asphalte top junior dropped to sixth place before making a spectacular comeback while competing with many four-wheel and rear-wheel drive cars. Tom Pieri and co-driver Alexis Maillefert were back in the lead on SS8. They went on to win by more than a minute over Anthony Diel - Stessie Muzel and Styve Juif - Maxime Biegalke in a podium monopolised by Renault. Clio Rally5 also swept the top three positions in its category, led by Florian Picchioni and François Gilbert, after a duel with Maxence Passaquet and Manon Perrin in the closing stages of the rally.
Clio Trophy Galicia
Eight Clio Rally5s contested the first round in the history of the Clio Trophy Galicia on Rally do Cocido. Gabriel Rodríguez and Álvaro Cerqueiras set the pace on the wet tarmac before losing the lead to Diego Félix and Raquel Rodríguez. Álvaro Méndez and David Enríquez then joined the battle on their home turf and eventually won the final duel by 6.2s ahead of Diego Félix and Raquel Rodríguez. José Joaquín Rasilla and Borja Rasilla completed the podium. The next round will be on Rallye Sur do Condado (7-9 June).

Clio Rally4 also won the French Rally Cup, notably with Maxime Goetz and Romain Gavoye on Rallye de la Lys. With Clio Rally5, the two models were also victorious on the Rallye du Florival, with Nicolas Miclo - Jérémy Lanthermann and Benjamin and Florence Stirling, who recently had a baby, as well as at the Rallye du Quercy with Frédéric Meurant - Olivier Mandon and Éric Sauteur - Cindy Millac.
In Italy, the Clio Rally5 of Andrea Scalzotto and Sara Montavoci won its category at the Rallye due Valli, the opening round of the Italian Asphalt Rally Championship. Meanwhile, Giovanni Marco Lanzalaco and Massimo Moriconi dominated the action among the thirteen Clios at the International Rally Cup field on Rally Elba. Matteo and Simone Brignoli did the same on Rally Prealpi Orobiche, as did Francesco Brogna and Ivan Margiotta on Rally Città di Casarano.
Meanwhile, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 won in their respective categories on Rally Šumava Klatovy in the hands of Ján Kundlák - Peter Baran and Josef Navrátil - Zdeněk Omelka. The former was also the best among the two-wheel drive entries in the Czech Rally Championship. Clio Rally4 also claimed a podium finish at round one of the Polish Two-Wheel Drive Rally Championship, with Grzegorz Bonder and Kamil Heller taking second place on Rajd Świdnicki. Lastly, Clio Rally5 won in P2-4 at the Rali Cidade de Portimão (Portugal) thanks to the Spanish duo of Carlos Rodríguez and Esther Gutiérrez.
Coming up
This week, the Clio RXs in the French Junior Rallycross Championship will return to the track at the Rallycross de Lessay-Manche. With Valentin Lumet, Hugo Jouan, Damien Le Boudouil, Alizée Pottier, Kelig Gouesbet, Louka Bourd, Marceau Launay, Emma Chalvin, Gautier Sarhy and Andréa Benezet, ten drivers will try to succeed David Bouet and Tom Le Jossec!
