Clio Rally4

Clio Rally4 won for the first time on the international scene on Rally Liepāja, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship. Driven by Jean-Baptiste Franceschi, the new model designed by the Viry-Châtillon and Dieppe teams won in FIA ERC3, in FIA ERC3 Junior and in the two-wheel-drive category.

Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT

The second meeting of the Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT saw the Italian crew of Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi take the win at the end of a hotly contested round.

Winner of round one in Poland, Paulo Soria was stuck in a ditch on stage one. Yigit Timur took the lead with three best times on the four timed sectors of the first leg. Paulo Soria won the first five stages on Saturday morning while Yigit Timur managed his lead before winning the final timed sector of the rally.

However, the Turkish driver saw his victory slip away when he was penalised two minutes for checking in too early. Andrea Mabellini inherited the win with a 1:13.4s margin of victory from Yigit Timur. Ghjuvanni Rossi completed the podium ahead of Bastien Bergounhe and Paulo Soria. Andrea Mabellini takes the lead in the general classification for two points ahead of Paulo Soria and four to the good from Ghjuvanni Rossi.

Clio Trophy France Terre

The first-ever round of the Clio Trophy France Terre delivered exciting battles throughout the Castine Terre d’Occitanie Rally. While Quentin Ribaud jumped straight into the lead before going on for the win, the competition led by Jean-Paul Monnin and John Laroche steadily improved, which bodes well for a highly competitive season.

Clio Trophy Turkey

Leaders of the Clio Trophy Turkey after their season-opening success at the Evofone ESOK Rally, Çelik Çağlayan and Ufuk Uluocak did it again this past weekend on the Hitit Rallisi.

After setting an excellent overall time on SS1, the Turkish crew managed its lead from Nebil Erbil’s attempts to finish the first leg with a 15-second lead. The scenario repeated during the second run on the tarmac stages near Ankara. They went on for the win with a 24.6s margin of victory, while Can Altinok completed the podium ahead of Menderes Okur and Tuncer Sancakli.

With his second victory, Çelik Çağlayan extends his lead in Clio Trophy Turkey ahead of a group of chasers led by Nebil Erbil.

And elsewhere

Clio Rally4 also won in Spain in the hands of Alejandro Mauro and Diego Sanjuan de Eusebio in the Ralli Osona round of the Catalan Tarmac Rally Championship. The same event saw the Clio Rally5 of Marc Ventura and Gerard Alsina win its category.

Clio Rally5 kept the winning trend going in the French Rally Cup with category wins for Yohan Saillat & Sylvain Kukulka on the Rallye National du Vallespir and Sony Hillion & Jordan Berton on the Rallye Régional de Saint-Sornin-Leulac. Sylvain Alanore & Franck Megret also took top honours on the Rallye Régional de Basse Normandie.

Coming up

This week, round three of Clio Trophy France Asphalte will take place with 30 crews entered for the Rallye Aveyron Rouergue Occitanie (July 8-10). Clio Rally4 will also be in action for round two of Anthony Fotia’s programme in the FFSA French Rally Championship. Clio Trophy Italia will make the fourth stop on its calendar at Rally della Marca Trevigiana (July 10-11).

The Clio RXs of the French Junior FFSA Rallycross Championship will be in Lessay (9-11 July) for the third round of the year while the Clio Cup Europe will resume for round seven of 2021 at the Hungaroring (9-11 July).
