Twelve teams preselected for 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season
The World Series by Renault Organising Committee and Renault Sport Technologies today revealed the names of the teams that have been preselected for the 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season. The final list of 12 outfits will be confirmed on 12 March 2014.
Over the last few weeks a large number of teams have made applications to join next season’s Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship, one of the most competitive in Europe. Despite the high quality of the candidates, however, the Organising Committee have opted for stability.
The only one of the 12 preselected teams, who may field up to three cars, to change their name is Interwetten.com Racing, now known as JCS Motorsport Academy. Michael Schneider’s outfit will team up with Mukesh Jani, the father of Neel Jani, and Cong Fu Cheng with the aim of nurturing talented young Chinese drivers in Europe. Neel Jani was a runner-up in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2002, while Cong Fu Cheng finished third in Formula Renault 2.0 UK in 2006.
All the teams must now confirm their wish to take part in next season’s championship, with the final list of participants being announced on 12 March 2014.
