They celebrate season ten of WSR with us #3: Daniil Kvyat
Daniil Kvyat is the living embodiment of the success that the springboard World Series by Renault provides to the pinnacle of motorsport. Second place in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2012, he is now an official Red Bull driver and race driver in Formula One. For the first time, the Russian is taking the reins of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 Show and is returning for the occasion to the Moscow Raceway, where he took centre stage for one of his finest performances in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. An opportunity to celebrate with us the tenth season of World Series by Renault!
Name one track you dream of driving.
“I like Spa and Monza, but also the Red Bull Ring, Hungaroring or Moscow… It would be fantastic to have a mix of all of these tracks. And if the dream circuit could be somewhere in Russia, that would be even better!”
A driver you dream of beating.
“Now I am competing in F1. At the moment I try to beat everybody, I think that’s a good objective. All of the drivers are at a truly very high level.”
A championship you dream of competing in.
“I think I’m already competing in my dream championship; the discipline that is the pinnacle of motorsport. I have worked hard to get where I am and I am working even harder to become the best in Formula One.”
A race you’ve dreamed of attending.
“The Senna/Prost battle made for some interesting races in 1989 and 1990. I would have liked to attended the Suzuka Grand Prix of 1990… from the chicane where they clashed!”
Your happiest memory of World Series by Renault?
“It’s associated with this circuit. I managed to win both races [in 2012] and to have a very strong meeting at my home round. I remember there were a lot of people. It was amazing to hear my national anthem in front of my home crowd. One of the finest moments of my career.”
It’s World Series by Renault’s tenth season this year. Can you tell us what you were doing ten years ago?
“I was 10 years old… I think I was competing in my very first karting race. It’s quite a long time ago!”
And what will you be doing in ten years’ time?
“I hope I’ll be in a very good position!”
