Successful 2011 season for Renault Sport

Renault Sport enabled many drivers to rack up wins and claim titles in 2011, with a full customer-competition range that featured everything from the Twingo RS R1 to the Megane RS N4. Join us as we look back on a successful season across Europe.

Renault Sport Technologies has continued to innovate since the launch of the Clio RS R3 in 2007, adding several new models to its customer-competition rally range. That sense of innovation was very much alive in 2011 with the launch of the Megane RS N4. The new-generation model impressed in its first season and has already established itself as the benchmark in the Group N category on the track. The Megane RS N4 turned heads on a number of occasions, recording category wins and securing a first title in Germany thanks to the driving talents of Carsten Mohe. In France, meanwhile, Manu Guigou finished the season first in Group N.

In its fifth season of competition, the Clio RS R3 was once again the car to beat. Jean-Michel Raoux drove it to victory in the IRC 2WD Cup, while in the National Championships, Kalle Pinomäki (Finland) and George Grigorescu (Romania) were both crowned champions in their respective categories.

The entry-level Twingo RS R1 and Twingo RS R2 allowed dozens of drivers to compete in Renault Sport Trophy competitions. Indeed, the inaugural French Junior Rally Championship for under-25s, held in partnership with the French Motorsports Federation, featured no fewer than 29 Twingo RS R1s. The format will also feature in other countries in the near future.

Renault Sport Technologies is directly involved in all of these programmes, providing full technical support at dozens of national and international rally events in the form of operations engineers and spare parts stores.
