Renault Sport to stage 3 competitions in France and a European challenge in 2012

After a successful 2011, Renault Sport Technologies will continue its strong commitment to rallying into the new season. Trophy competitions will be held in France for Twingo RS R1, Twingo RS R2, Clio RS R3 and Megane RS N4 owners, while a brand new challenge for Megane RS N4 drivers will also be staged as part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Twingo R1 Trophy France
Just like last season, the Twingo R1 Trophy France will take place over six stages of the French Rally Championship. Two separate categories will be created for drivers in the Twingo R1 Trophy France and those eligible for the French Junior Rally Championship (under-25s). Points will be awarded to the top 10 drivers using the FIA scoring system: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1.

More than €200,000 will be shared over the course of the season. Around half of that sum is reserved for prize money, and a substantial number of tyres will also be awarded as additional prizes. The winner of each rally will receive a €2,500 cash prize, along with €1,000 of parts vouchers and six tyres. The top 15 drivers at the end of each rally will also receive prizes. The French Junior Rally champion, meanwhile, will have the chance to drive the Twingo Renault Sport R2 Evo in eight stages of the 2013 French Rally Championship.

Twingo R2 Trophy France
The Twingo R2 Trophy France returns for its third season in 2012. The competition will coincide with the launch of the Twingo Renault Sport R2 Evo, and run alongside six stages on the French Rally Championship calendar. A prize fund of €150,000 will be distributed during the season. The winner of each stage will receive €2,500 in cash, as well as €2,500 of parts vouchers and eight tyres. The top eight drivers will also receive prizes. Points will be awarded to the top 10 drivers using the FIA points system: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1. The top three drivers in the Twingo R2 Trophy France will share a €20,000 end-of-season prize.

Two-Wheel Drive Trophy France
Building on a format that has run successfully over several seasons, and drawing on the commercial success of the Clio RS R3 and growing interest in the Megane RS N4, Renault Sport Technologies will stage a new Two-Wheel Drive Trophy France in 2012. The competition, initially conceived for the Megane RS N4, will also host the Clio RS R3, which reached the 250 sales mark this year. This new, 2WD Trophy has been created for drivers of Renault Sport’s two most competitive models, and reflects the needs of Renault Sport Technologies’ most loyal clients.

The new 2WD Trophy France is open to Clio RS R3 and Megane RS N4 entrants, and will take place alongside six rounds of the French Rally Championship. The total prize fund stands at €90,000, with the winner of each round receiving €2,000 cash, €2,000 of parts vouchers and eight tyres. The top five drivers will also receive prizes. Points will be awarded to the top 10 drivers using the FIA points system: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1.

Megane N4 Challenge – IRC Series
Renault Sport Technologies will stage a challenge competition for Megane RS N4 drivers in 2012, coinciding with six rounds on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge calendar. A prize fund of €110,000 will be shared over the course of the season, with the winner of each rally receiving €3,000 in cash and €3,000 of parts vouchers. The top five drivers will also receive prizes, with up to €2,000 of parts vouchers awarded for a victory in the “2WD” category.
