Renault Clio R3T scores first success

Following an intense development phase, the Renault Clio R3T – the latest member of the Renault Sport Technologies range – was put through its paces in race conditions for the very first time at the Scottish Rally, just a few days before it receives its official approval.

Driven by the Finnish crew of Jukka Korhonen and Marko Salminen, the Renault Clio R3T was one of the star attractions at last weekend’s Scottish Rally. Following several months of testing, the brand new motorsport/customer range car, designed by Renault Sport Technologies, was stepping out in public for the first time.

Appearing in Scotland a few days before it receives official approval from the FIA, the Renault Clio R3T took part in the event as a zero car, though that did not stop Jukka Korhonen from showcasing its performance potential and reliability on the rapid and demanding roads of Dumfries.

After comfortably matching the pace of the leaders in the R3 class, the young Finnish driver expressed his satisfaction with the car’s debut: “The event allowed us to check out the car’s basic set-up and to enrich the settings database, which will be made available to all customers. The Clio R3T proved to be very effective in all road conditions, and it has all the makings of becoming the new benchmark in the class.”

As well as proving its effectiveness on the rally’s special stages, the Renault Clio R3T also received a warm welcome at the service park. Several teams and drivers took a close up look at the new product with an eye to picking one up.
