Fabien Grosset-Janin scores second Twingo R1 Rallycross Cup win

A winner in the opening round of the season at Chateauroux St-Maur, Fabien Grosset-Janin landed another Twingo R1 Rallycross Cup and French Junior Rallycross Championship victory at Kerlabo Cohiniac last weekend, taking him to the top of the standings at the halfway stage of both competitions.

Overhead conditions made the qualifying heats unpredictable though Fabien Grosset-Janin made the most of the experience he has acquired in his short career to post the fastest time ahead of Echappement–FFSA competition victor Tom Daunat, and Cyril Raymond, the winner of the last two rounds.

Also on the grid in the A Final, which brought together eight Twingo R1s, were Aurelien Crochard, Ayrton Boris, Pascal Huteau, Alexis Breda – making his first outing of the season – and Twingo R1 Rallycross Cup leader Julien Anodeau.

Fabien Grosset-Janin led at the first corner from Tom Daunat and Cyril Raymond, while Ayrton Boris was forced to retire. The race order remained unchanged over the next seven laps as Fabien Grosset-Janin powered to victory number two of the campaign, consolidating his points lead in the French Junior Rallycross Championship and moving back to the top of the Twingo R1 Rallycross Cup standings.

Sandra Vincent won the ladies’ race, with Lucie Grosset-Janin coming home second and Manuele Closmenil third.

The next round of the championship takes place on 24-25 August at Pont de Ruan – Sache.
