Clio Cup France arrives in Pau

A traditional port of call on the Coupe de France Renault Clio Cup calendar, the Grand Prix de Pau will this year welcome the Nouvelle Clio Cup for the very first time, with several drivers setting their sights on a prestigious win in the city’s streets. If the first round of the season at Nogaro is anything go by, it should be quite a battle on the only street circuit on this year’s schedule.

The challengers in the Coupe de France Renault Clio Cup will be taking centre stage on a weekend of celebrations for motorsport. The Grand Prix de Pau always puts the accent on entertainment, even more so this year with the Nouvelle Clio Cup making its debut at the event, giving competitors the chance to show what they can do in avoiding the pitfalls of the city’s famous street circuit.

The season’s opening round at Nogaro saw Nicolas Milan score two second places to take to the top of the overall standings. The winner of the title three times in a row between 2009 and 2011, Milan will be looking to consolidate his position in Pau. Out to stop him will be Xavier Fouineau and Eric Tremoulet, the two race winners at Nogaro. Reigning champion Tremoulet has no intention of giving up his crown and undoubtedly has what it takes to triumph in the capital of Bearn province, in France’s south-west.

In total, 28 drivers will be taking to the start line at the Grand Prix de Pau.
